This 45 year old woman from Topanga, California had inverted nipples which made her feel self-conscious in intimate settings. At 5’8 and 122 pounds, she had a very trim and toned figure overall but was unhappy with her nipple appearance.
As you can see in the before and after inverted nipple pics, the nipple appears to be folded inward. This condition is also known as “shy” nipples. Millions of women nationwide live with nipple and areola abnormalities of all types, including inverted nipples. Nipples that point inward not only look “abnormal” but also can impact breast function and have a negative psychological effect about the way women feel about their bodies.
During surgery, her surgeon used a specialized technique that retains nipple projection and leaves minimal scarring. This outpatient surgery involves making a small incision at the base of the nipple while the nipple is in a projected state. Then, the fibers that pull the nipple inward are spread to allow the nipple to achieve a free, outward position before the incisions are sutured shut. Lastly, the Stevens Stent is placed over the nipple to hold it in place and protect it during healing.
The “after” picture above was taken 2 months following her surgery. She now has nipples that appear very normal. The patient is very pleased following her inverted nipple surgery and wished she had the procedure sooner.
